About Hing Kee Dimsum & BBQ

Located at 6033 Snell Ave, San Jose, CA 95123, Hing Kee Dimsum & BBQ operates as a restaurant serving San Jose in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Because this group is broad, judging a listing on freshness, turnover and how consistent recent reviews are tends to work better than judging by decor or price range alone. Most kitchens in San Jose will adjust a dish for common dietary needs like gluten-free or vegetarian if you ask when ordering. Hours vary widely: diners and fast-food chains often stay open late or around the clock, while bakeries and cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon. Catering and food delivery businesses in California usually require advance notice, from a day for a small order up to a week or more for a large event, so it is worth contacting them early.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 9 am–7 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (408) 613-2112. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 24 reviews, which is a strong result for a restaurant in San Jose and suggests consistent service.

San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Jose is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

New hole in the wall style Dim Sum place in Santa Teresa. I'm glad they opened nearby our house and increased the food variety in the area. There is no seating only takeaway. The entire floor space in the small shop is taken up by serving counters so there are no seats inside but they put plastic seats outside - which is convenient because they were popular and busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Wait time was about 10 mins which was reasonable considering how many customers were waiting. Price worked out around $6~7 per item which was reasonable but on the higher end of what I would pay considering it's 3 or 4 items per box. Most of the food was pretty tasty and not overly oily which is a major plus point. I was surprised that no sauces were included in the bag - which is inconvenient because we picked this up for a quick lunch on the go. Without the sauce the taste was lacking. Usually Dim Sum places will provide soy sauce and chilli sauce - but we got nothing. We did get a free mango drink because the order was above $45. Overall I would probably eat here again if they included some sauces with the order - without it the flavour is a bit plain. My comment to the owner is to please pro

Very good quality dim sum, better then some restaurants I've been to. This place is take out only but they have a few tables outside. Definitely worth a visit.

It’s a bit pricey especially for the portions/size compared to other nearby dim sum takeouts. I paid $40 for 6 dishes (~3 pieces per dish). However, the service staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They speak english, mandarin, Cantonese. There’s easy parking, and the interior is very clean. You order on a digital screen, and it’s only card-only. There are a few seats and two small tables outside where you can wait for your order. Note many of the non-dim sum items are only available after 10:30am. One complaint I have is that my har gow was cold (all the other food was hot), and it seemed like a piece of shrimp inside was uncooked! Everything else tasted pretty normal but nothing extraordinary.

Hong Kong style dimsum in Santa Teresa Square (Nob Hill plaza) run by a sweet family. Authentic and handmade, which I would describe as very homey and family style, not like super processed restaurant quality. The food is not too salty and not like mega portions. You can tell it was made with quality ingredients by people who care. πŸ’• Most loved: definitely the BBQ pork and duck πŸ’°expect $6-7 per dish. A little pricier than restaurant but beautifully handmade. πŸ†• Menu highlights?: Cheese and beef bun (tastes like an inside out cheeseburger) and black lava bun (tastes like a thick runny custard bun) πŸ’‘ Unique selling points?: the owners really impressed me with their warmth and hardworking family style. They are new and really just trying to sort out a process with the demand so please be patient. ⏰ Opening hours?: Open 8am-8pm almost every day. Avoid the crowds but going after lunch
